The Server is responsible for providing dining and table services to residents and guests in the community’s dining rooms and designated areas in accordance with Thrive Senior Living standards. They are responsible for proper meal and dining services and the cleaning of the dining rooms.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
ESSENTIAL:
The following job functions have been determined to be essential to the position. Management reserves the right to modify this list and other functions as deemed necessary:
- Has knowledge of Daily and Anytime Menu items and can provide a general description to the residents and guests.
- Assists residents with menu selections and responds to pertinent questions about menu items.
- Responsible for taking meal and beverage orders and serving requested items according to established guidelines.
- Responds to the dining needs of the residents and guests while maintaining Thrive hospitality and service standards.
- Attends pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities.
- Follows all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Maintains standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
- Maintains assigned tables and the surrounding area in a complete state of cleanliness, appearance, and readiness.
- Performs dining room set-up and reset of tables in accordance with dining room procedures.
- Supports the dining room decorum and etiquette standards.
- Performs and completes the opening and closing checklist criteria.
- Performs and completes side work duties as assigned.
- Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Safe food handling is practiced at all times to prevent an outbreak of food borne illness.
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments.
- Maintains all work areas in a healthful and safe condition.
- Assists in the dining room and surrounding areas for proper directional flow, organization, and supplies placement.
- Partners with the community team to ensure the community is in compliance with OSHA requirements, and promote Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
- Practice safety procedures at all times, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), and Lockout Tagout procedures.

EDUCATION:
- It is required that the Server has a minimum educational background of a High School diploma or GED.
- It is preferred that the Server holds a current CPR certification.
EXPERIENCE:
- It is preferred that the Server has previous experience in dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED:
- Frequent body movements include lifting, moving, transferring, bending (static forward bending), stooping/squatting, and reaching.
- Able to do heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted with twisting and turning of trunk. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
